In conjunction with the Song Show exhibition at the Artlab, Michael Paul Britto will lead a workshop focusing on creating short videos based upon popular songs. Working in teams of three, participants will brainstorm, storyboard, shoot, edit, screen and discuss the music-based videos that they make in a single day under the guidance of the visiting artist.
Michael Paul Britto is a filmmaker and video artist who also works in installation. He graduated from City College of New York with a B.A in Media and Communication Arts in 1999 and works with children and young people at the Boys Club of New York City and Downtown Community Television Center's (DCTV and at the Children's Arts Carnival in Harlem. Britto was a teaching artist at the New Museum of Contemporary Arts VKP (Visual Knowledge Program) in 2002. His work has screened at festivals and other venues in the U.S. and Europe, and has been broadcast on New Yorks Reel NY series on PBS.
