Using the familiar language of pop music as a vehicle for his wishful romantic yearnings, Nemerofsky Ramsay writes his own book of longing and, in the process, turns himself into a pop star. By tracing the words to Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out of My Head on an invisible screen that seals him in the melancholy space of his bedroom, the artist draws our awareness to the wall between us that preserves our privacy while allowing us to access to his display of emotion.
Benny Nemerofsky Ramsay, frequently works with song as a source material for his art: videos, performances, installations and multiples. His videos have been screened internationally and have won prizes at the Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen (Germany), the Avanca Festival (Portugal), the Toronto Inside Out Film and Video Festival (Canada) as well as First Prize at the Globalica MediaArts Biennale (Poland). His work is part of numerous privatecollections and the collection of the National Gallery of Canada
